A-4Love Makes No Comparisons
Dates: April 26 - 28, 2009   Fee: $100.00
A-4D1    Date: April 26    Fee: $40.00
A-4D2 Date: April 27 Fee: $40.00
A-4D3 Date: April 28 Fee: $40.00
This important idea characterizes the holy relationship, and is stated twice in A Course in Miracles (T-24.II.1:1; W-pI.195.4:2). It reflects the total lack of judgment that is our goal as we practice the Course's principles of forgiveness. Ending our perception of comparisons corrects the exclusivity that is the hallmark of the special relationship, which seeks always to fragment the Sonship that the Holy Spirit's true perception unifies. This central theme of A Course in Miracles will be explored through lecture, discussion, and readings.
A-5The Method in our Ego's Madness
Dates: May 24 - 26, 2009   Fee: $100.00
A-5D1    Date: May 24    Fee: $40.00
A-5D2 Date: May 25 Fee: $40.00
A-5D3 Date: May 26 Fee: $40.00
The famous line from Hamlet (“Though this be madness, yet there is method in't.”) is the basis for this class on the ego's purpose of its thought system of separation and guilt, which results in a separated world of guilt and specialness; the ego's twofold wish being to sustain our separated existence, yet hold others responsible for it and our unhappy condition. Lecture, discussion, and readings will help deepen understanding of the ego's method of reinforcing its insane dream of separation, and how the shift to Jesus' forgiveness gently ends it.
A-6The Neutral World
Dates: June 14 - 16, 2009   Fee: $100.00
A-6D1    Date: June 14    Fee: $40.00
A-6D2 Date: June 15 Fee: $40.00
A-6D3 Date: June 16 Fee: $40.00
A Course in Miracles tells us that the body is a wholly neutral thing (W-pII.299), meaning that once the body was made by the ego to limit love (T-18.VIII.1:1-4) and the world made to attack God (W-pII.3.2:1), they become neutral, ready to serve either the ego's purpose of maintaining the dream, or the Holy Spirit's purpose of awakening us from it. Thus our lives as bodies merely await the mind's decision. Lecture and readings augment discussion of this important topic.
A-7Leading Lives of Quiet Desperation
Dates: July 12-14, 2009   Fee: $100.00 for entire program; $40.00 for each individual day.
A-7D1    Date: July 12    Fee: $40.00
A-7D2 Date: July 13 Fee: $40.00
A-7D3 Date: July 14 Fee: $40.00
The famous line of Thoreau -- “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation” -- is the basis of this class, which explores the desperation and hopelessness that characterize the lives of most of us. The world itself offers little hope, having been made to keep true hope hidden. This lies only in the mind, where the mistake was made and the only place it can be corrected. Through lecture, discussion, and readings, we explore the nature of the problem (the ego's special relationships) and how to gain access to the solution (the Holy Spirit's forgiveness).
A-8Appearance versus Reality
Dates: August 9 - 11, 2009   Fee: $100.00 for entire program; $40.00 for each individual day.
A-8D1    Date: August 9    Fee: $40.00
A-8D2 Date: August 10 Fee: $40.00
A-8D3 Date: August 11 Fee: $40.00
Plato can be said to be the first philosopher to have explored the relationship between appearance and reality, what A Course in Miracles calls illusion and truth. In our everyday lives, this contrast takes the form of distinguishing between the ego's illusions of attack and defense, and Jesus' truth of our expressing love or calling for it. Thus the Course's metaphysical foundation -- appearance versus reality -- will be the backdrop against which we discuss forgiveness as the means of undoing the ego's thought system of specialness by learning to correct the ego's misperceptions.
A-9“Above the Battleground”
Dates: September 13 - 15, 2009   Fee: $100.00 for entire program; $40.00 for each individual day.
A-9D1    Date: September 13    Fee: $40.00
A-9D2 Date: September 14 Fee: $40.00
A-9D3 Date: September 15 Fee: $40.00
The section of the same name (T-23.IV) is the basis of this class, which will focus on asking Jesus for help to rise above the world and see it through his eyes: the vision of Christ that perceives only the intrinsic sameness of God's Son. Thus we are taught to recognize the same split mind -- wrong mind, right mind, decision maker -- in everyone we meet or even think about, looking beyond the bodily differences that reinforce separation and breed conflict, to the love that is the common goal of all of us.
